The title ‘Through the gate of Horns’ is based on a
belief held by the Ancient Greeks with regards to dreams. Can they sometimes
bear a warning, or a prophecy? unlike many people who are definite in their
negative answer, I have an open mind. What made me choose the subject? When
living in a small village in the heart of England, a smart young man leaving my
neighbour’s house greeted me with a remark about the weather as I got out of
the car, namely that it was a glorious day and getting lost had allowed him to
see the pretty village. Moments later, I received a phone call from my
neighbour, requesting with some urgency, I called round straightaway. What was
the emergency I wondered as I approached the house? ” You had a good look at
him,” she exclaimed before going on to explain that two nights before she had
seen him in a dream having come to the wrong address as had actually just
happened. What was more strange and eerie was that the man’s face was the
splitting image of that in an old family photograph album recently acquired as
researching her family tree. The likeness was indeed uncanny. After much
research and investigation, my neighbour discovered that the young man was a
distant relative whose ancestor had been treated badly by the family following
a wrong accusation.
